When you choose a dance studio for your daughter/son there are many things you should consider.
There is an amount of money and time that will be committed to this new activity and you want to make sure you are getting the results you desire.
There is nothing worse than having to tell a child that has been dancing for years at another studio they have to start over at a lower level than they are expecting.
Many students are participating in dance education offered by the public school system. It is great that dance has been placed in the schools, however the level of the public school program is not strong enough to teach anything more than the basics to your child. Each class is compiled of students from beginner to advanced levels and instruction is focused on the lower level student.
Take the time to visit the locations that you are considering.
• Check out the staff biographies and whether the staff actually knows what they are doing. Are they qualified to teach, are they in good physical condition.
• Look at the Advanced group of dancers they have....this will give you an idea of the capabilities of the facility and what your student should be able to achieve.
• Does the studio in question teach terminology ?
• If they have a dance team, research the awards they have received.
• Are you able to watch the classes or do they have a closed door policy.
• Decide if the facility made you happy/comfortable on your visit or just gave you the information and sent you on your way.
We, at Dance Explosion, welcome you to our studio.
We make every effort to answer your questions and make you comfortable at our location. Our students and families are invited to stay and watch class from the lobby through 8' glass windows. We also offer a game room for family enjoyment if you like.
We place all of our student in levels that should encourage advancement by challenging their current abilities. In doing so, we attempt to place them within their age group as well. We do work from a curriculum so the advancement of students is based on what they learn and not other questionable reasons. We also teach terminology so that our students can go anywhere and take class, knowing what the instructor is looking for.
Our instructors are the best in the area. They are capable dancers, as well as instructors. We hold them to a strict contract that requires them to continue training so they can always bring you the latest of what is going on in the dance world. They are dedicated to the students and their job as instructors. They all strive to make our dancers better than they are.....with the love and support needed to make it through the hard work it takes to get there.
Our advanced students are pre-professional level in all disciplines. It is our objective to have them ready to audition for college scholarships and/or professional jobs.
We have had several students receive full scholarships ($28000. per year) for College to major in dance....Coker College and Columbia College, to be exact. We have also had several students receive $5000-$10000. per year scholarships to colleges with out being demanded to major in dance.
We have also been blessed to have many of our dancers audition and be accepted to various summer programs, including The Governors School for the Arts and the University of South Carolina. And, we currently have a second student in attendance for the residential program at the Governors School of the Arts.
Our dance program is designed to give you what you are looking for, based on the commitment level you are willing to give.
Our advanced students are the best dancers in the area, both in technique and mastery of skills. Our beginner through intermediate level students still work on the same things, but just have not given the level of time needed to master these skills.....yet.
If your child is a recreational dancer, she/he will still find fulfillment in our program within the level they master. Just because they are dancers that want to spend less time in the studio does not mean they deserve any less training than other students. You are still paying the same as any one else and deserve the same in return. Our mission statement says it all "Be the Best Dancer You Can Be".
